Château La Nerthe: a new winery designed for thermal precision
In Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château La Nerthe has just completed construction of its new winery, delivered in time for the 2026 harvest. Picquette was entrusted with the entire refrigeration installation, with a major challenge: meeting the thermal requirements of three types of vats with very different characteristics – stainless steel, wood and concrete.
Control designed vat by vat
Each material reacts differently to heat and cold and has its own thermal rhythm throughout the winemaking process. To support this diversity, our teams developed a fully tailor-made solution:
- A thermodynamic heating and cooling unit feeding a complete hydraulic network, distributing hot and chilled water to all vats.
- Three independent circuits – stainless steel, wood and concrete – centralised in the dedicated plant room.
- A hot/cold control panel and temperature sensors on every vat, allowing precise, individual regulation.
- A touchscreen supervision system for real-time circuit adjustments and configurable programmes for each cuvée.
Anticipating to stay in control
The system provides fine, continuous temperature control, vat by vat, throughout the winemaking process. During harvest, when every degree can influence production, this level of precision is essential.
This project once again illustrates Picquette’s ability to design tailor-made refrigeration systems for the wine industry, combining technical expertise, ease of use and long-term reliability.
Thank you to Château La Nerthe for its trust.
